Drain Problems?

Call 416.989.5757 for A FREE Estimate!

Drain problems can be caused by many things, so if you've tried a plunger and a fish line or auger down the drain and it hasn't solved the problem, there's a good chance the blockage clot is further down past the trap. If you have a drain problem, it is not recommended to try to unclog it with Draino or Liquid Plumber, especially if you have a septic tank, as this can kill the bacteria that breaks down the waste. Also remember that these chemicals go into the city sewers and are recycled again as drinking water, which are poisonous to the body. Chemicals also often don't work as well in the drain as are advertised, and at best clear just enough room to let the water trickle through without fixing the drain blockage.

Drain clogs can sometime be cleared out with an auger but if you have porcelin or aluminum fixtures, you run the risk of damaging them with an auger. It will likely end up being cheaper to call a plumber to fix the drain clog, than to try clearing it yourself and causing damage. Whether for a sink or toilet, a drain plunger will only work if there is enough water in the fixture to create the force needed to clear the clot. It is always a good idea to wear goggles and gloves so that you are safe from waste bacteria splash.
